Lorena Lasanta
Tick Tock
We’re back on the radar this week with STIRD016 and one of our best kept secrets is headed your way. Enter: Lorena Lasanta and her debut EP, Tick-Tock. Hypnotizingly bewitching, it’s a throwback to Techno of yesteryear with a twist of the up-to-date.
The EPĀ comes at you full force opening with Day After Day, and arpeggiated and enveloping 9 minute monster that works and weaves its way deep into your brain matter. Desconekta is equally driving and brings moody synth tones and breathy vocal snippets while a menacing rhythm section keeps things pumping on the low end. Keeping things moving proper while subdued is Save Birmania. It comes complete with raw tone blips with just the right touch of reverb coupled with light percussion immersed in tasty delay. Finally we get to Father, which equals enraged techno shower bliss with a Swedish/Belgian flare. In short, what we have here is a collection of retro-futuristic, at times antagonizing, and well organized ammunition for a techno-utopian dancefloor.
