Adam Virga
Nerv
Here we are with StirSound head Adam Virga’s Nerv. The first in a series of singles, this one dishes out some serious dark and dirty. Along with the original, we have remixes from our friend Panùm (STIRD006) and a sneak peak at the new collaboration between Ian Funk and Emory Emlyn.
The original Nerv is a track that floated from computer to computer within our group and always turned heads. The kick is a knocky throw back to the late 90’s German sound holding it down for a dirty bassline and Sci-Fi stretched synth. Classic sounding hats and rim-shots work out the rhythm alongside a flanged out percussion loop and smacky snare.
Next up is a first glance at the new collaboration between StirSound head Ian Funk and the talented Emory Emlyn as Soviet Shoe Strings. This young duo, 24 and 21 respectively, has a rare understanding of each other’s musical intentions and directions providing an amazing level of ease and trust while working together. Their remix is a dark but funky retake that shuffles along at mid tempo and keeps in linear.
Joining us again after his Mbulurata EP is Panùm. His rework is 100% true to form with it’s loopy and chugged low end laid as a bed for his signature hat and snare combos.
