Measax Wellman began djing in early 2004 and right before graduating with a degree in philosophy he took on a resident spot at club R2 in Charlottesville, Virginia alongside long time friend Brian Boyd. His djing style was influenced by a love for obscure art and music, which eventually filtering down to minimalism. Since then he has made several moves throughout the state and has helped cultivate a small avant-garde group of minimal freaks. With house mates Jeffrey S. and Clinc, he currently helps run a weekly events in Fredericksburg, Virginia focused on minimal techno and micro house.
His production style developed from a childhood obsession with recorders and keyboards and much of it comes from samples he has recorded and collected himself. His sound is influenced by a very eclectic taste in music including bebop jazz, dub reggae, punk rock, underground disco, and early chicago house.
