Electrolurk
(artist)Bergen, NO
Geir Kjaerland was born in 1975 and raised in a small village in western Norway, but has for the last 10 years lived in the city of Bergen, Norway. He started playing bass and guitar at the age of 14, but his interest in music started before he had even learnt to talk. His musical background ranges from metal, improvisational rock, pop and electronica and he has for 10 years been playing bass and guitar in the experimental impro-rock band Palindrom. He started making “acoustic electronica” in 2000 and founded the project Electrolurk in 2006.
Even though made halfway digitally, his music is warm and acoustic sounding. He samples his own sounds, cuts them up and pastes them together, into beautiful and catchy melodies that fits as much for the dance floor as for the pure listening pleasure. His main instrument is the guitar, but he also records his voice and plays the drums and other kinds of acoustic instruments for use in his music.
His music stands out from the rest of the electronic music of today, as his music is a mixture between electronic and acoustic sounds. The result of this is a warmer and more human approach to electronic music.
