Much of the electronic music from Mexico has a perplexing way of burrowing itself deep into your veins and playing a tense game of catch and release with your internal organs. Our second digital release is the follow up to Jorge HM’s Principal-Primera Ep on the StirSound Netlabel and we are pleased to showcase the outlandish and disquieting sounds of Guadalajara.
The Barrio Gotico EP is a product of Jorge's stay in Barcelona and is an automatic weapon loaded with irregular tension and suspense. Verdi Segunda Segunda takes a side road on the path of pure tones, stripped down clicks and intermittent hiss for a simple yet highly effective dancefloor motivator. Equally industrious is the title track itself, Barrio Gotico which boasts coma inducing drums along with heady and ultra psychologizing tonality. From its white noise, spooky clicks and alien sonar tones, Joncar-Primero Segunda is sure to rattle dancefloors as well as cognitive thinking.
